When homeowners ask, “How long does a roof replacement take?”, they usually want to know the entire process, not just the installation. From the moment you schedule your first appointment with a roofing estimator to the final cleanup in your yard, several steps are involved.
At Oaks Roofing and Siding, we’ve been guiding homeowners through this process for over 20 years. Here’s what to expect in terms of timeframes.
Contacting a Roofing Contractor (1–7 Days)
Once you call or request a quote, Oaks Roofing and Siding will contact you to discuss your needs and schedule an appointment within an hour of you filling out our contact form. During the phone call, we’ll set up a time for an estimator to come and inspect your roof, answer your questions, and prepare a detailed proposal. We strive for this appointment to be made within 7 days of contacting our company.
Estimate Review and Contract Evaluation (1–2 Days)
After meeting with our estimator, they will prepare a written estimate. The estimate will provide an overview of pricing, materials, and warranty options. Our estimators will deliver you the project plan and pricing either the day of or the day after they visit. Some homeowners sign the contract right away, while others take a few days to compare bids, so this part is up to the homeowner!
Material Ordering & Scheduling (1–3 Weeks on Average)
The timeline here depends on material availability and crew availability. Certain materials take longer to source than more accessible materials. Additionally, summer and fall are busy seasons for exterior renovations, which can make scheduling take longer.
Most homeowners wait 1–3 weeks between signing the contract and installation day.
Roof Installation and Cleanup (1–2 Days)
The actual tear-off and installation is fast (if all goes according to plan). We aim to complete a roof within one day, from start to finish. Your home is vulnerable without a roof. You are more apt to have weather-related damage or other issues, so it is essential that this process is completed efficiently and professionally. More complicated roofs may be done in sections to ensure that weather conditions can’t leak into exposed areas, but can be finished relatively quickly.
After installation, a good roofing contractor doesn’t just pack up and leave. The crew will ensure efficient cleanup on the same day and make sure the finished work is properly inspected. We use Oaks Dumpster Rental to make sure every home we work on has a place for debris to go. Oaks Dumpster uses roll-off dumpsters that make pickup and cleanup easy and efficient.
Why Choosing the Right Roofing Contractor Matters
The contractor you choose can make or break your roof replacement timeline, which is why working with a local, experienced company is so important. At Oaks Roofing and Siding, we manage the entire roof installation process from start to finish, providing fast and accurate estimates, sourcing materials locally to avoid delays, scheduling reliable crews, and completing a thorough cleanup and final inspection. With Oaks, you’ll not only stay on schedule but also get a roof that’s built to last, keeping your home fully protected.
